Size: 450 cm.

Color: Dark above, light below. First dorsal dark with numerous black spots.

Height 7-8 in total length. Head (with rostrum) 4 in total length. Profile of head gradually ascending to dorsal. Distance between extremity of rostrum and eye 4.5 in total length. Inferior part of rostrum covered with fine pointed granulations, similar but stronger ones on the side, more pointed and more like normal teeth on that part of the mandibles, which corresponds to the lower jaw, the latter also with small pointed teeth. Origin of dorsal on nape, the anterior rays and those of the posterior third of the fin longest and twice as deep as body. Posteriorly the rays decrease rapidly, and immediately behind them the second dorsal begins. First anal beginning below posterior fourth of first dorsal, second anal below second dorsal, and similar to that fin. Pectorals falciform, 6-7 in total length. Ventrals much longer than pectorals, fitting in a groove of the abdomen.
