Size: 100 cm.

Color: In preserved specimens silvery. Dorsal and pectorals light yellowish, the dorsal blackish anteriorly and along its upper border, the pectorals sometimes dusky.

Height 12.9-15.8. Head 5.8-6.6, 2-2.25 in snout, and equal to or somewhat less than the flat or slightly concave inter orbital space. Maxillary reaching to below front border of pupil or nearly so. Fangs in both jaws barbed. Tongue smooth. Origin or dorsal above hind border of preopercle. Longest dorsal rays as long as snout. First anal spine small, less than diameter of pupil, following spines minute. Origin of anal below 40th dorsal ray. No ventrals. Pectorals nearly as long as snout. The distance between the lateral line and the ventral profile at anus much more than twice in its distance from base of dorsal.
