Description
Size: 12 cm.

Color: In preserved specimens brownish. Dorsal with a basal row of 5 large blackish blotches and a broad terminal dark longitudinal band, more distinct posteriorly than anteriorly. Anal with a somewhat wavy basal, and a sub terminal longitudinal dark band. Caudal dark brown, with a narrow white posterior edge and a broad white transverse median band.

Height 4.3-4.6, 5.4 in length with caudal. Head 3.2-3.3, 3.7 in length with caudal. Eye 2.6-2.7. Snout short and blunt, 2.4-2.7 in eye. Inter orbital space narrow, about one fourth of eye. Anterior nostril small, with a rim, posterior one a rounded opening. Maxillary truncate behind, not reaching hind border of preopercle. A row of curved teeth in both jaws, with a band of small, conical, pointed teeth behind it anteriorly, this band tapering backwards and absent on sides of jaws. Lateral line ending below anterior part of soft dorsal. Spinous part of dorsal somewhat lower than soft part, the fin somewhat pointed or slightly rounded behind. Anal similar to dorsal. Pectorals and ventrals sub equal, as long as post orbital part of head. Caudal rounded.
