Scales cycloid on head, otherwise ctenoid, also the smaller ones on nape, lateral line arched to opposite anal, sensory tubes terminally only partially somewhat bifid. Base of spinous dorsal less than twice shorter than soft dorsal but much higher, the third spine the highest, twice diameter of eye, the highest ray about half shorter. Soft dorsal and anal rounded, base of latter almost thrice in base of soft dorsal, the spines rather robust, the second nearly equal to first ray, the first almost one third shorter.
