Size: 31-41 mm

Color: Yellowish grey, centre of scales darker; a dark brown spot at base of caudal. Fins pale yellowish; dorsal with a broad dark band.

Head 3.3-3.5 in standard length, 4.1-4.3 in total length. Depth of body 2.9-3.0 in standard length, 3.5 -3.7 in total length. Eye diameter 3.2-3.3 in head, 0.8 in snout and 1.1-1.2 in interorbital space. Dorsal profile steeply ascending with a slight concavity at nape. Mouth terminal. Maxilla not reaching to eye. Barbels minute. Origin of dorsal fin slightly in front of a vertical from the ventral fin origin and midway between tip of snout and base of caudal fin. Last undivided ray of dorsal fin strong, but not serrate. Lateral line incomplete.
Number of spines and rays in the dorsal fin: iii, 8; number of spines and rays in the anal fin: ii, 5; number of rays in the pectoral fin: 14; number of scale rows along the lateral line: 23; number of horizontal scale rows usually counted from origin of the dorsal fin to the lateral line and from anal origin to the lateral line: 4+1+3.
