Organism information awaits expert curation
Class: Actinopterygii

Size: 160 mm.

Color: In alcohol specimens olive brown, with more or less conspicuous stripes following the obliquely ascending series of trunk scales, entering dorsal, scales on body with a paler center, on head a blackish brown band from front to chest, passing through eye, about as broad as eye, with a rather broad white hind border, meeting its fellow as a narrow stripe on nape and as a broad, at least broader band on chest, a narrow white front border from eye to isthmus or also continued above eye, snout blackish with a white chin, a white spot on corner of mouth and below it. Caudal with broad whitish margin and a dark carmine cross band, getting paler near base, border of soft dorsal black with a white dark-margined intra marginal band, soft anal white margined, ventrals blackish.

Nearly orbicular, rostro-frontal profile behind concave pointed snout steeply ascending in a nearly straight line to more less prominent convexity before dorsal, height about 1.5, head 3.1-3.3 in length. Eye 3-3.6 in head a little less than slightly convex inter orbital space, somewhat prominent above eye. Snout somewhat pointed and prominent, nearly thrice in head and somewhat surpassing diameter of eye. Mouth nearly horizontal, jaws sub equal, lips rather thick, teeth brushlike, conspicuous, about sub equal. Preoperculum with rounded angle, scarcely denticulate. Scales on trunk large, in strongly ascending longitudinal series, diminishing in size posteriorly and getting very small on head, chest and median fins, lateral line running in a straight line toward second third of spinous dorsal, thence curved toward termination of dorsal. Spinous dorsal about as long as soft, spines strong, the middle ones the longest, especially the fifth and sixth, about as long as head without snout, last spine lower than soft dorsal, the middle rays of which are longer, it has a rounded contour toward base of caudal peduncle. Anal of similar form, its second and third spine sub equal, slightly shorter than longest dorsal spine. Acute pectorals nearly 1.5 in head. Caudal nearly truncate, least height of its peduncle somewhat more than diameter of eye.
