Description
Size: 10 cm

Color: Body silvery, with a dark saddle-shaped blotch on nape, and vertical zig-zag yellow stripes on back and sides of body. A jet black blotch in upper half of spinous dorsal fin from the 3rd to the 6th spines; pectoral and pelvic fins hyaline.

Oval and compressed body. Its dorsal profile is more or less as convex as ventral profile. Snout is pointed. Mouth is small and points downward when protracted; cleft of mouth opposite lower third of eye. The mandibular profile is very much concave. Gill rakers are slender and longer than gill-lamellae. Teeth are small and are arranged in a single row in both jaws. Dorsal fin has 8 spines and 16 soft rays. Anal fin has 3 spines and 14 soft rays. Pelvic fin reaching about 3/4 to origin of anal fin. Head naked, minute scales on body, breast scaly. Scales are minute and conspicuous.

Breeds in rainy season.
