Color: Pinkish red

Thalli terete, erect, robust but soft, up to 20 cm high, with a percurrent axis and about 2 mm in diameter. Branches alternate or sub-opposite on all sides of the main axis, ultimate branchlets short, clavate, obtuse at tips and sub-opposite. Epidermal cells projecting near the ends of the branchlets.

In transverse section, cortical cells not radially elongated like palisade cells, lenticular thickenings absent. Tetrasporangia parallel to the axis in the apical portion of the ultimate branchlets.
