Size: 26 cm.

Color: Silvery, bluish above, fins hyaline.

Oblong, height 2 2/3 to 2 3/4 in length, head 3 2/5 - 3 1/5, pointed, rostro-nuchal profile concave and naked before eyes, thence continued in convex dorsal profile. Eye 3.50 in head, equal to or somewhat more than inter orbital space and equal to or slightly shorter than pointed snout. Mandibular profile straight. Maxillary reaching anterior border of eye. Praeoperculum entire, its angle rounded. Lower pharyngeal bones about as in G. punctatus. Dorsal originates at a distance from end of snout, much longer than height of body, but conspicuously shorter than length of spinous and soft portion of dorsal together. Second dorsal spine longer than half height of body and half length of head, the second, third and fourth spines the longest. Second anal spine slightly the longest, about equal to postocular part of head. Pectorals longer than head, reaching about anal.
