Description
Size: 8 cm.

Color: In preserved specimens yellowish brown, the body sometimes with rather faint darker crossbars, sometimes uniform. A few dark streaks on cheek radiating from eye. A large round darkbrown or blackish ocellus on operculum, encircled by white, above it a darkbrown streak. Fins light yellowish.

Oblong, dorsal profile evenly rounded. Height 2.6-2.7, 3.3-3.4 in length with caudal. Head 2.3-2.4, 2.8-3 in length with caudal. Eye about 3. Snout blunt, 1.6 in eye. Interorbital space narrow, more than twice in eye. Maxillary reaching almost or quite to below hindborder of eye. None of the bones of the head serrated. First dorsal spine minute, second one about half length of third, which is stronger and longer than the others, as long as longest soft rays of second dorsal and equal to eye and snout. Spine of second dorsal longer than second spine of anal and equal to diameter of eye. Longest soft anal rays somewhat shorter than those of dorsal. Pectorals and ventrals subequal, equal to distance from hindborder of operculum to pupil. Caudal rounded. Least height of caudal peduncle somewhat less than its length, less than postoebital part of head. Lateral line with tubes from head to 7th or 9th scale, the others with an opening only. Minute Villiform teeth in jaws.
