Young thallus hemispherical to sub globose firm, becoming flat and hollow when mature, loosely attached to substratum by tuft of rhizoidal holdfast, utricle cylindrical or slightly clavate with a prominent bulge below the apex, apex slightly truncate or round, utricular wall 2.5-3.3 µm thick, 600-975 µm long, 105-210 µm wide, peripheral utricles 435-525 µm long, 60-120 µm wide, gametangia lanceolate or ovoid, 75-135 µm long, 60-90 µm broad, with a small stalk, 15 µm long, medullary filaments 15-30 µm diameter, arises from base of each utricle by stout out growth.
