Size: 98 mm.

Color: In preserved specimens dark brown, caudal and distal part of caudal light yellow. A light streak on each scale. Dorsal and anal dark, except posterior parts of both fins, which are yellow and strongly contrasting. Pectorals brown, with a large black blotch at base and on pectoral axil, surrounded by a light area. Ventrals blackish.

Height 2 - 2 1/8. Head 3 1/4 - 4. Snout 4 - 4 1/8 in head. Eye 2 7/8 - 3, 1.1 in inter orbital space, greater than snout or inter orbital space in young. Maxillary reaching little beyond front of eye. Teeth uniserial, compressed, ends rounded or obtuse. Inter orbital space 2 7/8 - 3 in head, broadly convex. Suborbital with one narrow row of scales, an obtuse spine in front, rest of edge entire or with a few denticulations. Two transverse rows of scales on preopercle, and one row on inferior limb. Scales on upper part of head reaching to near end of snout. Length of anterior dorsal spines 4 3/4, of longest spine 1 3/4 in head. Membranes between the dorsal spines deeply incised. Soft dorsal pointed. Middle ray of dorsal longest to head. Second anal spine 2.45 in head. Soft anal similar to soft dorsal. Ventrals pointed, subequal to pectorals and about as long as head. Caudal emarginate.
