Color: Sandy, Varies from purple brown to greenish brown

Colonies rounded, smooth cushions. Upper surface completely encrusted by a thin layer of sand interrupted only by the common cloacal apertures (4-5 mm apart). 8-12 zooids grouped around the cloacal opening.

Zooids about 4-5 mm long with a transparent narrow thorax, horizontal gut loop and a sac like posterior abdomen with a short neck. Branchial siphon with six triangular pointed lobes. Atrial languet has a pointed or flat serrated tip. Fine longitudinal muscles in the anterior part of the thorax. 10-15 branchial tentacles. Wide prestigmatal area.
