Taxonomy
Kingdom:Animalia
Phylum:Bryozoa
Class: Gymnolaemata
Order:Cheilostomatida
Family:Cupuladriidae

Description
Size: Diameter of the colonies range from 1.5 mm to 9 mm.
Zooecium.
Length 430 µ.
Breadth 350 µ.

Zoaria saucer-shaped. Zooecia on the convex side of the zoarium. The rim of the colony crenulated owing to the presence of vibracula. The concave side of the colony tuberculated and bears thin ridges which radiates from a central point and branch at the region of the basal part of the vibracula, a median ridge always extending to the distal tip. Ancestrula single and the first two daughter zooids are placed at an obtuse angle to the ancestrula and hence the center is generally triaxial, the first axis passing through the distal proximal extension of the ancestrula and the other two diverging from the primary axis. The centre of the colony appears as eight rayed star. The size of the primary and the first two secondary zooecia are generally smaller than those of the rest of the colony. Central zooecia closed by a lamina at the level of the cryptocyst. Gymnocyst present, but very narrow. Cryptocyst uniformly tuberculated and descending. Oval opesia deep. Vibracula invariably present in all zooecia, with small and distinct auricular projections on one side. No seta observed. Ovicells absent.
