Color: Silvery on back and golden on abdomen, sometimes vertical bands cross the lateral line, a black shoulder spot near the operculum.

Length of head 4 ½, highest breadth 3 ¾ to 4 ¼ in total length. Eye diameter 4 in length of head. Dorsal and ventral profiles complex. Teeth present on jaws, vomers and palatines. Breast predominantly scaled. Last ray of soft dorsal prolonged.
