Description
Size: Width of carapace 95 mm; length of carapace 59 mm.

Color: Carapace brownish with purplish tinge and conspicuous yellow markings, central one resembling a cross; chelipeds purplish brown, spotted with yellow, tips light brownish pink.

Carapace broad, slightly convex and smooth, length much less than its width; antero-lateral borders with six spines, the first one truncated and notched anteriorly and the rest acuminate. Orbital diameter about one-third of the inter-orbital space. Fingers as long as the palm; propodus of the last pair of legs with one or two denticles near the distal end of its posterior border. In male species, the sixth abdominal segment much broader than long and with gently curved sides; anterior abdominal appendages more or less straight with bluntly pointed tips and thick fringe of hairs on the outer margin.

It is a swimming species which inhabits the offshore waters.
