Description
Size: 38-40 cm.

Habits: A float high in the water and invariably feeds from surface. Also beats on water surface. Often follow ships to pick up garbage.

Sexes alike. A stocky black and white pelagic petrel with dark head conspicuously checkered back, two large round patches on upper surface of each wing. Adult has sooty brown head, neck and black, small white streak below eye, broad black terminal band on white tail, and white under-parts.
