Description
Erect or documbent herbs,fleshy jointed branching shrubs or herbs; joints of the branches longer than those of Arthrocnemum; stems succulent, seemingly leafless, much-branched, with numerous jointed nodes; each segment at apex forming a little cup usually with short teeth, embracing the base of the next higher segment. Leaves absent. Flowers very small in cylindrical cone like spikes, present in cavity of stem joints. Fruits ovoid, utricles membranous; seeds laterally compressed, hairy; hairs minute, white.

Flowering and fruiting: July-November (West Bengal, Orissa), throughout the year (Andhra Pradesh).
