Description
Size: 3-15 m tall.

Leaves orbicular, unlobed, apex acute to acuminate, base deeply cordate, chartaceous to coriaceous, 1-5 linear nectaries on the nerves beneath the lamina. Stipules ovate to oblong. Flowers solitary, axillary or in terminal raceme by reduction of upper leaves; epicalyx cupular, segments deltoid; calyx campanulate; petals obovate, yellow with purple base, apex rounded, base fleshy. Capsules globose to ovoid with a short beak.

Flowering and fruiting season: Winter, but occasionally throughout the year (West Bengal), November-March (Orissa), February-September (Andhra Pradesh).

Seeds blackish brown, papillose.
