Description
Size: Height 30-40 cm.

Color: Yellowish brown

Thallus form and type: Foliose and bushy

Substratum: Intertidal rocks

Occurrence: Infra littoral and sub littoral zone, tide pools

Season: November-April

Abundance: Dense

Plants pyramidal in form, possessing a large discoidal holdfast. Upper portion composed of a primary axis bearing several branches, radially organized. Axis glabrous, rounded. Ultimate branchlets modified into vesicles and receptacles. Leaves thin, translucent, 2-6 cm long and 0.5-1.5 cm broad; alternately arranged, being larger and broader in the lower portion becoming smaller and narrower towards the apex; linear or linear-lanceolate, margins of the leaves sinuate-dentate, apices narrow rounded, bases cuneate, midrib more or less prominent, cryptotomata arranged on either sides of it. Vesicles stalked, more or less spherical in shape, possessing numerous cryptosotmata over the surface.

Receptacles richly branched, spinose, androgynous, bearing antheridial and oogonial conceptacles together or bearing only oogonial conceptacles.
