Color: Purplish red or greenish purple

Thalli membranaceous and brittle, loosely intricate-caespitose forming a globular or slightly depressed mass, usually 10-14 cm high, irregularly branched in divaricato-dichotomous manner, 0.5-1 mm broad. Attaching by basal branches or disc-like attachment. Branches patent with rounded axils, ramification like cervis-horn in upper parts, here and there with minute or elongated single or divided spinous branchlets. Lenticular thickenings in the walls of meduallary cells often present. Tetrasporangia and spermatangia around the middle or basal swollen part of the branchlets. Cystocarps globular on branches or branchlets.
