Description
Colonies are corymbose to caespito-corymbose, thick horizontal plates composed of prostrate branches and short branchlets. Branchlets have large, usually tapering, axial and incipient axial corallites curving upwards or pointing in different directions. Radial corallites are mostly scattered, not touching, appressed tubular with round to nariform openings.

Similar species: This species is similar to Acropora granulosa, which forms thinner colonies with smaller corallites. Thick plates or corymbose tables with a whorl or bare incipient branches are characteristic features of this species.
