Thallus form and type: Crustose

Plants dark red in color, crustose, orbicular, attached by unicellular rhizoids arising from the lower surface; margins free, thallus composed of single row of hypothelial cells and vertical rows of perithalial filaments; perithallial filaments 4-6 celled.
