Description
Size: Length upto 10.5 cm, breadth 0.5-2.5 mm

Color: Thallus dark green

Thallus form and type: Tubulose and compressed

Substratum: Intertidal rocks, floating structures in the sea

Occurrence: Upper littoral and mid littoral zone of relatively calm waters

Season: Throughout the year

Plant body tubular, more or less compressed, constricted; thallus simple , attached to the substratum with the help of primary attaching cell, supported by numerous multinucleated rhizoids growing from lower cells of thallus; cells of the thallus small and round; rhizoids may give rise to secondary thalli. Filaments narrow and tubular at base, compressed above, several branches arise from the base, branches similar to the main frond, cells in surface view subquadrate or elongate. Chloroplast plate-like with one pyrenoid.
