Description
Color: Pink-purple

Thalli crustaceous with stout protuberances arising from crust in advanced stage and forming dense heads, 6 cm long, 11 cm diameter. Protuberances broad, flat or rounded, fusing often near tips, sometimes sub-dichotomously branched.

In vertical section of protuberances, cells of medulla (hypothallium) sub-rectangular, in central portion (13-) 15-30 (-36) µm long, 5-13 µm diameter, cortex (perithallium) layered, cells sub-quadrate, 7-10 µm diameter, sometimes sub-rectangular, 7-20 µm long, 5-10 µm diameter, epithallium one layered, cells sub-rectangular, 3-5 µm long, 5-7 µm diameter, secondary pit connections often found between adjacent cell-rows of hypothallium and perithallium. Sporangial conceptacles slightly convex, uniporic, borne along sides of branches, 270-360 µm inside diameter, sporangia bisporic, 42-50 µm long, 25-33 µm diameter, located around periphery of conceptacle cavity.
