Description
Color: Purplish red

Thalli rather rigid, cartilaginous, filiformis, subcylindrical or narrow-linear, perennial, caespitose, erect, 10-20 (30) cm high, forming a dense tuft, arising from a fibrous holdfast. Main axis compressed, pinnately branched in 4-5 orders, alternate or opposite. All the branches with sharp and acute apices.

In transverse section, cortical cells roundish and irregularly arranged with rhizoidal filaments just below the cortex, medulla composed of elliptical cells. Tetrasporangia in terminal portion of the branch, elliptical, cruciate. Cystocarps with two openings.
