Plants tufted, arising from a common base of crowded, creeping filaments, to about 0.7 mm tall, the numerous erect filaments alternately and fastigiately branched, 9-10 µ diameter, below 6-7 µ diameter above, the cells 18-35 µ long below, 30-35 µ long in the upper parts of the plant, with a large pyrenoid. Monosporangia usually on small branchlets secund along the upper side of the main branches, 1-2 on each branchlet, ovate oblong, 9-10 µ diameter, 14-16 µ long.
