Description
Size: Plants 19-43 cm long; 0.5-1.5 cm broad

Color: Thallus pale violet in color.

Plants narrow, long, ribbon-like and attached. Margin of thallus serrate with multicellular spines of 32-59 µm length; monostromatic, 38-41 µm thick in vegetative portions, 42-50 µm thick in reproductive portions. Mucilage upto 8.8-10.3 µm thick.

Vegetative cells in surface view polygonal, 15-18 µm across, in cross section 17.7-20.7 µm in height and 11.8-17.7 µm broad. Single chromatophore in each cell.

Plants monoecious, carposporangia and spermatangia appearing in separate, continuous long streaks along the margin, gradually extending towards the innerside of the thallus, spermatangia can be distinguished as white, linear streaks along the margin. Carpospores 32, arranged in 4 tiers of 8 each having the spore formula a/2, b/4, c/4; 8.8-14.8 µm in diameter. Spermatia 128, arranged in 8 tiers of 16 each having the spore formula a/4, b/4, c/8; 3-4.5 µm in diameter.
