Plants widely branching to several decimeters diameter, without a dominant axis, tangled. Stem smooth; leaves firm, acutely linear, 2.5-7.0(-10) cm long, 2.0-3.5 mm wide, serrate, the teeth slender, terete, their length to 0.5-0.75 the width of the leaf. Cryptostomata absent, midrib not prominent. Vesicles 3-5 mm diameter, borne on stalks as long, sometimes smooth, but more typically apiculate, or tipped with a long spine or reduced leaf. Receptacles unknown.
