Description
Color: Rose red

Plants tufted, erect, sometimes forming extended cushions, attached by small discoid holdfasts, the height 2-3(-6) cm; branching dichotomous, the angles very narrow and the habit very erect and corymbose, the branching tips acute; lower segments of the plants somewhat cask-shaped, often about 2 diameters long, the ordinary segments of the central portions of the plant cylindrical, 125-200(-240) µ diameter, 3-6(-9) diameters long, several segments often intervening between points of branching. Upper branchlets 65-100 µ diameter; branch-bearing segments broadened to 240-300 µ diameter at the top.

Tetrasporangial conceptacles at first terminal, vasiform, later horned, eventually intercalary below a fork, with a median protruding ostiole. Monoecious, the cystocarpic conceptacles like the sporangial. The spermatangial, however, remaining terminal, lanceolate to fusiform, without marginal horns.
