Description
Color: Purple red

Thalli bushy; up to 2 mm or more high, cells 9-10.5 µm broad, 21-33 µm long, larger below, smaller above, 2-3 times as long as broad below, up to as much as 4-6 times longer than the breadth near the summit; basal cell sub cylindrical-oblong, conspicuously constricted in the middle, the lowermost part is embedded in the tissue of the host, about 12-15 11 µm broad, 15-28 µm long. Erect filaments solitary, sometimes two, from the same basal cell, irregularly, laterally branched, with a greater tendency to unilaterality. Cells sub-cylindrical; apical cells are rounded. Monosporangia ellipsoidal, lateral or terminal.

Epiphytic on other algae.
