Description
Color: Dull rose-red

Plants tufted, somewhat intricate below, alternately branched, but above rather sparingly divided. The branches long, at the tips the branchlets densely tufted or appearing ocellate-congested. Height to 5 cm; the main axis below 50-90 µ diameter, cells 90-300 µ long. Lateral branches spreading, short, of rather even length, opposite in alternately placed pairs, or in fours, producing a 4-rowed aspect. Branchlets alternate, in 2 rows, or somewhat unilateral, 9-14 µ diameter, with cells 4-8 diameters long.

Gland cells numerous, near the bases of the ultimate branchlets, applied to the upper side of 3 cells. Tetrasporangia 75-85(-100) µ long, 50-55(-70) µ diameter, replacing the branchlets of the last order, mostly on the upper side of the short branches, sessile or short-stalked. Cystocarps to 400 µ diameter.
