Thalli crustaceous, firmly adherent to the substrata. Individual crust about 1.5 mm thick, overlapping crusts up to 5 mm thick, surface smooth with prominent conical conceptacles. Hypothallium coaxial, rather thick, 70-130 µm high, 9-13 µm thick, hypothallial cells sub-rectangular 15-40 µm long, 10-15 µm diameter. Perithallium composed of cells with quite different sizes and forms, some being subquadrate 10-15 µm diameter, some sub-rectangular 10-24 µm high, 9-13 µm diameter. Epithallium composed of one layer of sub-elliptical cells, 4-5 µm high, 6-10 µm diameter, fusion of 2-3 cells between adjacent filaments quite common. Heterocysts arranged in vertical rows of 4-12 sub-rectangular cells, 10-23 (-35) µm high, 18-30 µm diameter. Tetrasporangial conceptacles conical, 700-900 µm inside diameter, uniporic, tetrasporangia on entire floor of conceptacle, 90-100 µm long, 45-50 µm diameter.
