Size: Height 3-4 mm

Plants forming small epiphytic tufts. Basal system rhizoidal; cells of the rhizoids 33-264 µ long and 9-17 µ broad, more or less rich in chromatophores. Erect system composed of more or less richly branched main axis; branches irregularly alternate, sometimes arranged oppositely; all narrowing towards apices and ending in slender hair-like form. Intercalary meristem of the main axis situated in the upper part, that of the primary laterals at the bases. Cells of the erect system somewhat barrel-shaped, 40-150 µ long and 34-100 µ broad, richly provided with plate-like chromatophores.

Plants bearing plurilocular sporangia or gametangia, the latter richly present; sessile as rule, ovate or slightly elongated in shape; occurring frequently oppositely on pairs or sometimes scattered; 30-74 µ long and 20-28 µ broad.

Grows ephiphytically on Sargassum tenerrimum.
