Description
Size: 17-35 cm in length; 2.2-5.5 cm broad

Color: Thallus pale violet

Plants attached to rocks, thallus lanceolate; margin serrate with single-celled and multi-celled spines 6-8 µm long, monostromatic, 41-44 µm thick in vegetative portions and 44-47 µm in reproductive portions. Mucilage upto 8.8-10.3 µm thick.

Vegetative cells in surface view polygonal, oblong to ovate, 12-18 µm across, in cross section 23.6-26.6 µm in height and 14.8-17.7 µm broad. Chromatophore single.

Thallus monoecious, fertile zone extending from the margin inward. Spermatangia and carposporangia mixed, marginal in position. Carpospores 16, arranged in 4 tiers of 4 each having the spore formula a/2, b/2, c/4; 10.1-11.8 µm in diameter. Spermatia 128, arranged in 8 tiers of 16 each having the spore formula a/4, b/4, c/8; 3-3.5 µm in diameter.
