Description
Thallus form and type: Foliose and bushy

Substratum: intertidal rocks

Occurrence: infra littoral fringe and sub littoral zone, wave exposed stones

Season: November-April

Abundance: Dense

Growing attached, plants erect to a height of 4 dm or more, the main axis with few to many long side branches. Branches smooth or sometimes muriculate in the younger plants. Leaves firm, narrowly lanceolate, 1.5-3.0 cm long, 2-4 mm wide, sharply serrate or sub-entire below, tapering to a generally asymmetrical base and to the apex. Blades linear lanceolate, cuneate, asymmetrical. The costa distinct, cryptostomata small and scattered. Vesicles numerous, spherical, 2.5-4.5 mm diameter, on pedicels, 0.5-2.0 mm long. Receptacles much branched, axillary or growing out into fruiting branches bearing vesicles and small leaves and reaching a length of 2-3 cm.
