Description
Color: Pinkish red.
All four pairs of legs similar in form and size. Legs usually have the last two joints very broad.
Crab of a large size. Carapace longer than broad. The ratio between length and width being 6:5. Abdominal terga narrow, most of them visible in dorsal view. Buccal cavity elongate, completely closed by third maxillipeds. Chelipeds robust, hand usually broad and flat, the finger and thumb nearly at right angles to the long axis of hand. Inhalent branchial canals between the 1st abdominal tergum and the coxae of 5th pair of legs. Sternal thoracic shield reaches only to the level between the bases of first ambulatory legs. Eye stalks three segmented.
Carapace covered by numerous spine like structure (tubercles) along with hair. Easily can be identified.
