Color: Purplish red

Thalli soft and membranous, leaf-like, creeping on subtidal seaweeds especially Sargassum spp. by means of disc-like holdfasts. Branches sparse, pinnae alternately arranged, sessile, broadly ovate slightly overlapping, notched or blunt to apices, often shorter than broad. Midrib consisting of one row of cells, ending with hair-like out-growths. Structurally, cortical cells mostly hexagonal in almost regular arrangement; pericentral cells commonly four and limited to the main axis of the apical hairs.
