Description
Size: 6-15 cm in height and 5-12 cm in breadth.

Color: Light brown

Fan shaped plant body, segmented, ruffled and sometimes whitened by a thin deposit of lime; calcification of thallus distinctive; holdfast rhizoidal; conspicuous zonation noticed in the thallus due to the presence of concentric rows of hairs. Circinately rolled growing edge of the alga is a special feature to protect the apical meristems.

Reproductive organs occurring usually between these hair bands; sori present on the lower surface of the thallus. Reproductive bodies forming wider and somewhat narrower alternating rows. In the younger parts the former remains sterile and the latter being fertile; in the older parts both are fertile, being covered on either sides by rows of hairs. Thus beginning from the involute apex of the fronds: the first wider zone is covered above and below by means of bands of hairs. The former belonging to the lower and the latter to the upper surface of the fronds. The following narrow zone has rows of hairs above and below, respectively, belonging to the upper and lower surfaces of the lobes and so on.
Gametophytic plants dioecious. Antheridia more or less cylindrical, forming sori; oogonia ellipsoidal, occurring singly or in groups of 2-4 or more. Tetrasporangia globular, occurring singly or few in groups.
