Size: 95 mm.

Color: In preserved specimens yellowish or brownish. A white narrow median band from inter orbital space along base of dorsal and along upper border of caudal peduncle to upper rays of caudal.

Height 2.3-2.4, 2.9-3 in length with caudal. Head 3.1-3.5, 3.8-4.3 in length with caudal. Length of head equal to its height. Eye 3-4.4, 1-1.5 in snout, and 1-1.2 in almost flat inter orbital space. Mouth oblique, maxillary reaching to below front border of eye in young, in adults not quite so far. Preorbital, suborbital, interopercle, and subopercle strongly denticulated. Preopercle with a few blunt or more pointed serrations, sometimes almost smooth. Opercular bones scaly. Preopercular limb naked. 24-28 rows of scales before dorsal. Scales on upper part of head reaching to line connecting front border of eye or beyond. First dorsal spine a little more than half length of second, which is shorter than third spine. Third to sixth spine subequal, equal to snout. Eight and ninth spines shortest, subequal, as long as diameter of eye. First dorsal ray as long as last spine. Post median dorsal rays longest, equal to snout and eye together. First anal spine less than half length of second, which is equal to eye. Soft anal less deep than soft dorsal, the longest rays somewhat longer than snout. Pectorals rounded, equal to head without snout. Ventrals as long as snout and eye together. Caudal slightly rounded.
