Description
Height: Up to 50 cm

Color: Reddish brown to greenish.

Plants fleshy and slender, profusely branched, predominantly dichotomous in nature, sometimes irregular; plants arising from a basal fleshy disc composed of closely aggregated vertical filaments; usually the basal disc and sometimes the lower part of the thallus persist for the consecutive seasons.

Carposoprophyte development by means of apogamy (an aberrant life history) has been noticed by Krishnamurthy et al (1969).
