Size: 41.8 cm.

Color: In preserved specimens brownish above, silvery below. Head more or less violet, darker than body. A large black patch between lateral line and posterior part of posterior part of pectoral. Fins yellowish.

Height 2.7-2.8, 3.3-3.5 in length with caudal. Head 2.7-3.1, 3.3-3.9 in length with caudal, its height equal to its length. Eye 3-3.6, twice in snout. Inter orbital space slightly convex, equal to or somewhat less than eye. Relative length of sides of triangle, formed by middle of pupil, angle of preoperculum and snout (in this sequence) 1:1.4-1.5:1.2. Mouth very slightly oblique, jaws equal. Corner of mouth in vertical between anterior and posterior nostrils. Canines moderate, posterior lateral teeth molar like, rounded. Six to six and a half rows of scales between origin of dorsal and lateral line. Dorsal spines slender, the fourth longest, slightly longer than third one and about half length than eye, slightly less than longest soft dorsal rays. Origin of anal separated by 14 scales from lateral line, below last dorsal spine. Second anal spine stronger than third, which is longer and about equal to eye, soft anal rays slightly longer. Pectorals long and pointed, almost as long as head. Ventrals equal to half eye and snout together. Caudal incised, the lobes pointed. Least height of caudal peduncle 1.5 in its length.
