Size: 12-17.5 cm.

Color: Silvery with a bluish or greenish back, fins hyaline, the spinous dorsal with a black edge.

Oblong, dorsal profile elevated and compressed at origin of dorsal, the rostro-dorsal profile ascending in a nearly straight line, somewhat concave before elevation at dorsal, height 2.37 in length, head 3 to 3.2, pointed, eye about 2.50 in head, longer than inter orbital space, which is naked above anterior third of eye with a small median concavity, snout much shorter than eye. Maxillary reaching to below anterior third of eye, mandibular profile nearly not concave. Prae-operculum entire with rounded angle. Scales more or less crenulated. Origin of dorsal at a distance from end of snout somewhat longer than height of body and somewhat less than length of spinous and soft dorsal together. Second, third and fourth dorsal spine subequal and longer than the following spines, the length of the second nearly equal to head without snout. Second and third anal spine strong, subequal, or the second slightly longer and stronger, somewhat shorter than eye and snout. Pectorals longer than head, reaching vertical through origin of anal. Least height of caudal peduncle less than less than its length.
