Description
Size: Cells 10-20 μm long and 3-7 μm broad

Color: Pale green from Chlorophyll a and b.

Thallus mat forming, growing on moist soil, also free floating, unbranched. It is a photosynthetic species.

Asexual reproduction may be by fission (splitting), fragmentation or by zoospores (motile spores). Sexual reproduction may be isogamous (gametes both motile and same size); anisogamous (both motile and different sizes-female bigger) or oogamous (female non-motile and egglike; male motile).
