Description
Color: Purple or pink-purple

Thalli membranous; blade monostromatic, more or less lacerated from a common base into several bladelets, 8-14 cm high, marginal portion undulated, edge denate, bladelets 0.5-2 cm, rarely up to 4 cm broad, 20-24 µm thick, vegetative cells with a stellate chromatophore, rhizoidal cells oblong-ovate.

Monoecious; spermatangial and carposporangial patches found on the marginal regions of the same thallus; each spermatangiophore with 64 spermatangia and mode of division (male) A4B4C4; each carposporangium with 8 carpospores and mode of division (female) A2B2C2.
