Description
Color: Brownish-red or deep purplish, often running into blackish on drying.

Plant with several fronds arising from a discoid holdfast, 22 cm in height; fronds are alternately, secondly branched at the upper parts. Thalli cylindrical, thick and solid fleshy in substance, branching irregularly pinnate alternate or secund, rather distant below with a patent rounded axil and with short intervals above with a narrow axil. Branches unconstricted at the base, extremely divergent, flexous or corymbose in general outline, sometimes arcuated upwards, ending in sharp acute apices. Tetrasporangia cruciately divided. Nutritive filaments present.
