Description
Plants intricately branched. Branches much attenuated at the apices, cylindrical to compressed, with their axils round or obtuse-angled. Thallus built up of many-layered, parenchymatous tissue, superficial layer composed of small, closely packed, rectangular cells. Cells of the inner layers becoming larger inwardly, irregular in shape, angular. Cryptostomata distributed on the surface of the thallus, hairs of the cryptostomata arising from a deeper depression.

Plurilocular sporangia forming sori, associated with hairs; clavate, uniseriate mostly.
