Description
Thallus form and type: Tubular

Substratum: Intertidal rocks , coralline stones

Occurrence: lower mid littoral zone, tide pools

Season: November-April

Thalli 1.5 cm in height, cylindrical, erect, calcified strongly below, less heavily towards the green apex, sometimes solitary, often densely gregarious. Terminal hairs tufted deciduous, primary branches whorled, 200-300 ┬Ám long. Secondary branches arising in pairs and producing monomorphous, deciduous hairs at apex. apical filaments unbranched, deciduous, fine; branchlets in whorls from central axis.

Sporangia oblong to obovoid, bearing a single cyst, pedicellate, cohering in discontinuous annular rows within a calcareous sheath.
