Taxonomy
Kingdom:Plantae
Phylum:Chlorophyta
Class: Ulvophyceae
Order:Cladophorales
Family:Cladophoraceae

Description
Length: Filaments 2-30 cm

Color: Dark green

Thallus form and type: Filamentous and brush-like tufts in flocks

Substratum: Rocks, calcareous stones

Occurrence: Lower mid littoral zone and infra littoral fringe, exposed rocks.

Season: November-April

Cells were 400 to 700 µm in diameter below and 400 to 1000 µm in diameter above, with reticulate chloroplast and cell wall was 25 to 40 µm in thickness. Plants occurs in tufts; plant body filamentous, filaments dense, unbranched and appear like a brush; filaments with elevated long basal cells; cells 1-2 times longer than broad; rhizoids well developed, branched vigorously and spread horizontally branches end in irregularly shaped discs with which the plants are fastened to the substratum.

Usually this alga is heavily infested with Acrochaetium species, a red micro alga which sometimes gives red hue to the filaments. Occurs epilithic on littoral rocks.
