Description
Size: 3-18 cm disc width

The electric organs present on disc are used to stun the prey. Disc almost circular; one dorsal fin; tail short. Snout is broadly rounded and about one and a quarter times the interorbital distance. Rostral cartilage is present but in reduced form. Nasoral grooves are present. Spiracles are large and situated close behind eyes. Five pairs of gill-opening are present on the ventral side. One spineless dorsal fin. Pelvic and pectoral fins are well developed. Rayed portion of the pectorals extends to the orbital region. Anal fin is absent. Teeth are in narrow band, small, quadrangular with the crown not strongly produced.
